P.T. Barnum: The Prince of Humbugs
The time...1810...He was born in Bethel, Connecticut. This was an age of "marvelous wonders" and many home-grown entrepreneurs selling "snake oil" to the gullible or anyone willing to part with a nickel. He truly was an American showman, businessman, entertainer, promoter of hoaxes, author, publisher, politician, philanthropist, the first show business millionaire, and founded the circus as we know it today. He left a great legacy. Don't miss this one.
Presenter: Joseph Oulette, a member of the Ellington Historical Society
This program is co-sponsored by the Simsbury Public Library and the Senior Center.
